Why Install / Upgrade

There are two main reasons why people call us to install or upgrade their smoke alarm system.

Safety and Peace of Mind

The first is safety and peace of mind. If you have moved into a new home, have a family or are anxious about fire safety, having an up to date and fully-functioning smoke alarm system in place is a must.

Latest Regulations

The second reason is that under Scottish law, landlords/owners are required to make sure that the property they are letting out complies with current regulations (BS5839:part 6 regulations) - all the smoke detectors we fit, comply with these regulations.

In both cases, Henderson Electrical Services can meet your needs. We are NICEIC certified and have over 20 years experience installing smoke alarms, heat and carbon monoxide sensors in the Glasgow area.

Latest Scottish Regulations

To comply with the latest Scottish regulations regarding smoke alarms, every home (owned or rented) is required to have interlinked Smoke and Heat alarms installed by February 2022. Where there is a carbon-fuelled appliance (such as boilers, fires and heaters) or a flue, a carbon monoxide alarm is also required.

Further requirements include:

  • One smoke alarm in the room you spend most of the day (typically the living room)
  • One smoke alarm in every circulation space on each storey, such as hallways and landings
  • One heat alarm in the kitchen

We know this can be a little confusing, but don`t worry our electrician will be able to guide you through exactly what you need in your property.

On completion of the the install / upgrade and payment has been processed, we will promptly email you your Fire Safety Certificate (and a Minor Works Certificate if applicable) in pdf format. Other formats are available on request.
